I figured the least I could do was go first.
My name is CalvusRex I've been poking around on the internet since before the internet was a thing in the mid 1980's, back when getting online meant a phone line, a modem, and a BBS on the other end. That's where I learned what computers were actually for, not processing or productivity, but people. Conversation. Curiosity. The feeling that somewhere out there someone was thinking about the same strange things you were.
I've been chasing that feeling ever since.
These days I run a small self-hosted setup, write when something demands to be written about, and spend probably too much time thinking about why the modern web feels like it's gotten worse at the thing it was supposedly built for. I have a telnet BBS still running, more out of love than logic. I have opinions about music and history and philosophy that don't fit neatly into any single corner of the internet. I got tired of scattering myself across platforms trying to cover the bases, so I built this instead.
That's the short version. The longer version is on the blog if you want it.
What I'm hoping for here is simple: a small group of people who like to think out loud, disagree well, and aren't in a hurry. People who have interests that don't stay in their lane. People who found the rest of the internet a little too loud and a little too fast and a little too interested in their attention.
If that's you, I'm glad you're here. Tell me who you are.
